The Yokomo YD-2 LF Big Bore Tapered Shock Piston. This is product developed by the Yokomo Drift members. One side of the shock piston has been tapered. The damping feeling differs depending on the mounting direction. To soften the feeling on the extension place the tapered side to the bottom of the shock. To soften the feeling on the contraction place the tapered side towards the shock cap.
The piston holes have a diagonal slope and also affect the fluid dynamics within the shock body. This has the effect of suppressing disturbance in the shock by increasing the dampening force. In normal drift setup the shocks are often set very soft. When using a soft shock oil the oil film tends to run out between the O-ring and the shock shaft. To combat this Yokomo equipped this with a 6-hole design exclusively for drift and recommends using around 300cst oil.
